Overview
Axi Recruitment is working with Axi Design & Engineering for a Piping Designer to join their talented, experienced Design Team. The Piping Designer is responsible for delivering technical solutions across a range of projects and technical areas, and for producing and checking the technical solutions of other Designers as necessary, on time and budget and in accordance with all relevant Engineering and company procedures.
The Piping Designer will be familiar with developments in their area of expertise and will bring developments in best practice, technology, and legislation to the attention of the business. The Designer will be competent across a wide range of fields commensurate with the systems they are working on.
The Designer will undertake technical reviews of projects, working with other discipline Engineers to ensure that the technical solutions being delivered offer the best solution to the business. They will demonstrate full understanding of and adherence to all relevant Engineering procedures, policies and standards, and their practical application.
Job Details
- Inform Project Manager/Line Manager of potential project risks identified in a timely manner.
- Working within the business ISO9001 quality systems.

- Comply with and work to relevant procedures and standards, to meet the required level of quality in all outputs.
- Zero non-conformances to all company, client and project specific quality and safety plans.
- Keep up-to-date with latest industry standards and technology.
- Share knowledge with more junior members of department, and support continuous improvement through project close out processes, lessons learnt and sharing learnings with the wider Engineering community.
- Be familiar with all relevant Engineering and Design software, with a good understanding of the availability and use of all relevant electronic tools and software.
- Awareness and understanding of business Engineering procedures, and their practical application.
- Understanding of all Engineering standards, procedures, business policies, processes, and procedures.
Experience
- 2D Modelling using available software.
- 3D Modelling using available software.
- P&ID Development Design.
- HVAC Specification and Design Awareness.
- Welding, NDE and Heat Treatment Methods Awareness.
- CDM Designer and Principal Designer Duties Awareness.
- UKCA/CE Marking - ATEX (Equipment Supply) Directive Awareness.
- UKCA/CE Marking - Machinery Directive Awareness.
- UKCA/CE Marking - Pressure Equipment Directive Awareness.
- Material Take-off.
- Able to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Occasional flexible working required.
- Technical knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, guidelines. systems and processes.
